Description & Services
Description (Service) The Region of Waterloo Arts Fund welcomes applications from individuals, collectives and not-for-profit organizations with projects that will “make art happen” in Waterloo Region. The Arts Fund supports all arts disciplines, including performing arts (theatre, music, dance), visual arts, film/video/media, literature and interdisciplinary and community arts. 
The Arts Fund Board adjudicates grant applications twice a year and approves/directs financial support of projects created by artists and artistic organizations who/which are based in Waterloo Region. The Arts Fund does not fund capital projects or provide operating funds.  
The 14-member volunteer Board of Directors operate at arms length from the Regional Municipality of Waterloo and Regional Council..
Hours Grant applications must be received by the deadline date. See the website for specific dates and other details.  
Support staff are available Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm in-office and via email. Please note that appointments are required for in-office visits during the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Individuals, collectives and not-for-profit organizations who practice in any arts discipline
  • Live or work in Waterloo Region; and
  • who are in good standing with the Arts Fund - with no open/active or outstanding projects or reports
Unincorporated projects, groups and/or collectives may submit grant applications but corporations must be not-for-profit, managed by a volunteer board and the majority of its members and/or clients must live or work in the Region of Waterloo.
Application The Arts Fund has implemented an online application portal for the submission of grant applications and the processes related to the approved grant project upon grant approval. Applications are welcome during the Spring and Fall rounds each year. The online portal has an Open/Apply Date and a Submission/Deadline Date for each granting round. Late applications are not accepted and applications that do not meet the basic granting criteria (residency, for example) will not be reviewed/adjudicated by the Board.
