Eligibility | Immigrants and Refugees; children, youth, adults and older adults Coordinated Language Assessment and Referral Centre Adults 18 years or older are eligible if they meet one of these criteria: Canadian citizens born outside of Canada; permanent resident; Convention refugees, protected persons or refugee claimants; workers admitted under the Live-In Caregiver program; applicants under other programs holding the initial letter of approval from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada |
Application | Please contact Coordinated Language Assessment and Referral Centre Call to book an appointment. Bring immigration documents (Original landing document, Permanent Resident Card, Citizenship Card). Allow 2-3 hours for the assessment. |

Public Comments | COVID-19 Update: YMCA Immigrant Services are continuing to provide online settlement services for newcomers to Canada and Waterloo Region. We use every online platform available to us and find ways to support our clients through Skype, Zoom, WhatsApp, Facebook, over the phone and email. The YMCA language assessment centre is now doing online language assessments. New clients can call to book an appointment. Please call 519-579-9622 x 242 or email ckw-newcomers@ckw.ymca.ca for appointment. We provide services in the following languages: English, French, Albanian, Amharic, Arabic, Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian, Cantonese, Dari, Farsi, Hindi, Mandarin, Oromo, Pashto, Punjabi, Somali, Spanish, Swahili, Tigrinia, Turkish, and Urdu.
