Description (Service) Offer programs that help young children acquire essential literacy skills.  
     
  • Preschool program offered in community centres: Get Ready for School 
  • School-based program: Letters, Sounds and Words 
  • Free community program that helps families develop literacy and language skills with their babies: Baby Connections 
Hours Varies depending on program/site
Eligibility Ages: 1 year(s) - 9 year(s) 
 
     
  • Baby Connections is for infants from 6- 12 months of age.  
  • Get Ready for School is for 3-4 year-olds starting school in the fall.  
  • Letters, Sounds and Words is for 5-9 year-olds in school. 
Application Children must be registered for the Get Ready for School program. Teachers select which children participate in Our Letters, Sounds and Words program.
